Research Projects (with a leading role)
- The Web Portal Usability (WPU) Project: 2009
to 2012. Financed by The Danish Council for Strategic Research:
5.7 mio. DKK. I am the main applicant and project leader.
- The MAUSE Project (Towards the Maturation of Information
Technology Usability Evaluation). Financed by COST as Action 294
(2005 to 2009). I was representing Aalborg University as a research partner.
- The USE Project (Usability Evaluation and Software Design:
Bridging the Gap). Financed by NABIIT (2005-2008:
5.5 mio. DKK). I was the main applicant and project leader.
- The Digital Hospital Project. Associated with the Digital Lighthouse
Project in Northern Jutland. Financed by the County of Northern Jutland.
I was the leader of the task on usability (2002-2003: 0.5 mio. DKK).
- The Maritime Mobile Device Project (2001 to 2002). Associated with the
Center for Human Machine Interaction (CHMI)

- Member of the committees that designed the Informatics
education that started in 1998 and the inter-faculty Bachelor in
IT education that started in September 2007.
- Associate head of the Computer Science Department at Aalborg
University; then with a staff of about 30 full-time employed faculty members,
20 Ph.D. students, and 350 graduate and undergraduate students. 1993
to 1999.
- Chairman/member of the computer science curriculum committee at Aalborg University. 1988 to 2006.
- Chairman/member of the committee that plans and coordinates the
use of the building of the Computer Science Department, including design
and planning of a completely new building in 1991. Since 1987.

Hobby
- Racing and cruising in small and medium-sized keelboats
(Omega 34, Nordic Folkboat, Knarr, Ylva) on national and local level, since
1982.
- Officiating in sailing: International Judge (at the Olympic games
2004 and 2008, several world
championships and the olympic test events 2002 and 2003) and International
Umpire (at the America's Cup 2003, the challenger series 2002/2003 and
2005/2006 and several
world championships and grade 1 events), appointed by the International Sailing
Federation.
- National judge and national umpire, appointed by the Danish
Sailing Association.
- Service as a chairman and member of the International Sailing Federation's
International Umpires Sub-Committee, and as instructor on international umpire
seminars.
- Service as a member of the Danish Sailing Association's
Appeals and Racing Rules Committee and Judge Committee, and as instructor
on national and regional judge and umpire seminars.
