Danish<->Danish Translator

This page gives a more elaborate discussion on the Danish to Danish translator. The web page inputs the text from the ``Danish text'' input box, separates the words, and hyperlinks them into one of the vocabularies for a translation.

Usage of the web-application

In order to use the Danish<->Danish translator, please follow these four simple steps:
  1. Write Danish text (copy/paste) into the input box.
  2. Select the vocabulary for the translation.
  3. Select translation options and press the ``proc'' button. The web-page will generate hyperlinked text under paragraph text with links.
  4. Click on each hyperlink-word for the translation.

Supported web-browsers

The web page was successfully tested for the following browsers:
  • Mozilla 1.2 (Solaris 2.8),
  • Mozilla 1.2, 1.3, 1.4a (Linux RedHat 9.0),
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 (Solaris 2.8), 6.0 (MS Windows 98, MS Windows 2000).

Suffixes and prefixes features

The web page implements a stripping of the prefixes and suffixes of the ``translated'' words. A way to correctly strip the suffixes and prefixes of the ``translated'' words is to define and use context free grammar. One of the authors of the web-application believes that it is not possible to do a proper stripping without the context free grammar defined. In addition, the existence of such the context free grammar for Danish language is very doubtful. Please send all comments on the above issue to marius@cs.auc.dk.

Authors of the web-application

The idea of the page was originally developed by Arturas Mazeika. The web-page was then implemented by Marius Mikucionis and Arturas Mazeika. Currenly the web-page is supported by Marius Mikucionis.
