Del 1 af specialeringskurset gennemgår de basale forskningsmetoder, som anvendes inden for empirisk baseret forskning i HCI. Denne del er baseret på en ny lærebog om HCI-forskningsmetoder samt et antal "klassiske" artikler, der illustrerer nogle af de forskningsmetoder, der er mest anvendt inden for HCI.
