Center for Data-Intensive Systems (http://daisy.aau.dk), Department of Computer Science at Aalborg University (AAU), Denmark, has openings for phd fellowships. The objective of the positions is to carry out research on the following topics in machine learning, data management, and algorithms. - Time series analytics: with a focus on forecasting and surveying time series with spatio-temporal and hierarchical structures, e.g., in domains of traffic, climate and environmental science, and exoskeleton; - Spatio-temporal data analytics: machine learning, especially deep learning and tranfer learning, on spatio-temporal data, e.g., GPS trajectories, speed camera data; and systems support for spaito-temporal data analytics; - Graph algorithms: algorithms on large scale, dynamic and uncertain graphs; - Graph embedding: learning distinctive graph representations for different applications. Requirements: - Master or Bachelor degree in computer science or a closely related field - excellent scientific background and publication record - demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team - excellent communication skills in English, oral as well as written - good programming skills Tasks: - perform excellent scientific research - develop research prototypes and conduct experiments - publish in prestigious international conferences and journals - contribute to funded research projects Employment: The fellowships are available for 3 years. The annual salary is approximately DKK 350.000. The fellowships are available from August 1, 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. For local 9th semester students without a master degree, it is possible to do a 4+4 phd. The phd study at Aalborg University includes a fully-funded half-year study abroad activity where a phd student spends half-year in a foreign university. Since the related projects include international collaborators from Carnegie Mellon University, University of Minnesota, Paris Descartes University, Nanyang Technological University, MIT, Oxford, UNSW, and Cornell, the phd students will have opportunities to conduct the study abroad activity in one of the above universities. Performing the study abroad activity in other universities is also possible.
